HOW TO CUT WATERMELONS
It is important to use the right tools and techniques to cut watermelons, especially large fruits. If not, your crispy summer snack will be spoiled. So, follow these processes.
Step 1: First, you should find a large, clean, sharp knife to cut the watermelons.
Why is a clean knife essential? Because the knife directly touches with fruit. So, if it is contaminated with any other foreign material (bacteria, food particles), there is a possibility to contact them with the fruit. So, gradually these materials can deteriorate the fruit.
Step 2: Then place the watermelon on its most steady side
Step 3: cut the whole watermelon into four pieces or quarters
Step 4: then, take one quarter and cut it into a 2 cm wide slice. Follow the same process for other pieces
Step 5: After that, lay the cut watermelon pieces on their flat side
Step 6: Cut the green rind and carefully draw the knife close to the white rind. Here you can use a small knife for this.
Step 7: Chop the watermelon into preferable sized cubes
HOW TO STORE CUT WATERMELONS
When cutting watermelons, someone cuts large pieces, and someone cuts small pieces. So, there is two different technique to store large pieces and small pieces, respectively.
So, let’s see them one by one!
FOR LARGE PIECES OF CUT WATERMELONS
If you cut the watermelon into any size of pieces except tiny pieces, the best way to store it is by wrapping the cut end with plastic wrap and then storing it in the refrigerator.
You can keep the watermelon for up to a week through this method. Keep in mind that watermelon is a must to store in a refrigerator once cut.
But here, why should we use plastic wrap to wrap the cut end of the watermelon?
Basically, plastic wrap helps to keep most of the fruit’s flesh. Not only that, generally, anyone stores many different foods and beverages in the refrigerator. So, if you store foods without wrapping, they can be picked up with other odors. It may spoil the freshness of your food.
So, plastic wrap avoids picking up any odors into the fruit. Therefore, it allows for freshening the next bite of your watermelon.
FOR BITE-SIZED OF WATERMELON CUTS
Once you cut or cubed watermelons, you should store them properly unless you have to throw them away. So, how do we do it in the proper manner?
Here you should put the watermelon cuts into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
